Destination wedding | How to get a rough idea on numbers before RSVP date

Ambrose Estae

Before you go and plan your destination wedding, you will want to know roughly how many of your guests are willing to make the journey for your special day. Knowing your rough guest numbers will help you pick the right venue and make sure you aren’t paying for a large venue that’s half full.

The best way to get a rough idea on guest numbers is to ask in your save the dates. This will let your guests know you are thinking of a destination wedding, the location, the date and how far into the future. The guests that already know they won’t be able to make it, will be able to let you know straight up they can’t come, without having to wait for a formal invitation.

The best way to ask for an informal RSVP in a Save the Date for your destination wedding

Dear Trish and Lee,

We would love to share our big day with you however we understand our wish for a destination wedding may mean you are unable to make the celebrations.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you already know you will be unable to attend and will be toasting from afar on our special day.

Lots of love,

The soon to be,
