If a beautiful island destination wedding is what you have been dreaming of, then you need to seriously consider a Bali wedding. With beautiful beaches, luxury hotels and resorts and incredible views, Bali is the ideal destination wedding. We have thrown together everything you need to know about a Bali wedding.

You have a choice of two types of ceremonies

As an Australian getting married in Bali, you have two options. You can choose to have a ‘commitment ceremony’ without all the legal requirements, leaving that for when you arrive back in Australia. Or if you want to leave Bali as a married couple, you can choose to make your Bali wedding legal by following the requirements of the Indonesian marriage law. You can read more about that here.

When is the ideal time to get married in Bali?

The best months to get married in Bali are from May to August, what is considered their ‘dry season’.

  • In June, July and August the humidity is at its lowest (think hair and makeup).
  • May is quieter than June, July & August with tourists. Rates are less.
  • The busiest time in Bali is the month of August

What's the best month to have an outdoor wedding in Bali?

August is the middle of the dry season and has the least chance of rain in the year. You can almost safely plan your outdoor wedding with no fear of rain.

When should you get married in Bali if you are budget conscious?

If you are happy to take a compromise on the weather, you will be able to save some money. Although June, July and August are the best months weather wise, they are also the islands busiest months for tourists. An increase in demand means an increase in price. Check out April/May and September/October, they are still considered the dry months but are less popular with tourists and will help you save some cash.

If saving money is a high priority, you will want to consider a wedding in Bali’s off season. From November to March. If you are happy to have an indoor wedding, this is a great option for your Bali wedding. Although, keep in mind, getting around the island, your activities before and after the wedding and decide if this is the best option for you.

Where can you get married in Bali?

The most popular options for getting married in Bali are:

  • A 5 star resort
  • A private villa
  • A chapel
  • The beach
  • A Church or Temple

Should I hire a wedding planner?

Absolutely. If are not opting for an all inclusive wedding package through a resort, then you should definitely consider a wedding planner. There’s a lot to plan for a wedding in your own country let alone in a foreign country. They are there on the ground, they know what’s going on and they are there to make sure everything runs smoothly.
